The Hawaii Tourism Conference kicked off Tuesday on World Tourism Day, greeting hundreds of attendees from around the world with traditional island music and a hula performance by Mapuana de Silva’s Halau.
With the theme “Transforming Tourism Together,” the four-day conference will host sessions on ways to advance Hawaii’s tourism, which contributed $1.6 billion in total state tax revenue in 2015, up $13.4 million from 2014.
